Back to School Hair Treatments

We've prepared two essential oil recipes to help eliminate lice. The first option can be used in addition to your shampoo or as a preventive hair mask. The second is a nourishing, smoothing solid shampoo that can also be used on the body.

Option #1 - Lavender Hair Lotion

Materials List

  •  Fine-tooth comb
  •  Shower cap

Ingredients

PREVENTIVE CARE

  •  True Lavender Floral Water (110 ml)
  •  Lavender - Hybrid Super essential oil (30 ml)

 HAIR TREATMENT

  •  Sweet Almond beauty oil (30 ml)

Preparation

PREVENTIVE CARE

  •  Add 100 drops of Lavender - Hybrid Super essential oil to the True Lavender floral water.
  •  Always shake the bottle well before spraying*. Use 7 to 10 sprays on the hair, behind the ears and the nape of the neck, and then smooth the hair with a fine comb. Let dry.
  •  Spray on hair before going to school, when you get home and before bedtime.

*Do not spray on the face.

HAIR TREATMENT

  •  Apply 1 to 2 drops of Sweet Almond beauty oil in the palm of your hand, add 15 drops of Lavender - Hybrid Super essential oil and massage the scalp.
  •  Leave on for 30 minutes to 1 hour, covering the head with a shower cap.
  •  Then wash hair by adding 3-5 drops of Lavender - Hybrid Super essential oil in a ½ cap of shampoo. Leave on for 5-10 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
  •  After shampooing, smooth out hair with a fine comb, strand by strand, beginning from the scalp to the ends.
  •  Repeat the treatment for 4 to 5 consecutive days.

Option #2 - Lavender & Castor Oil Bar Shampoo

Materials List

  • 2 heat-resistant bowls
  • 1 tablespoon
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • A scale
  • Soap molds (silicone)
  • Blender
  • Gloves and mask

Ingredients

PHASE A (Aqueous)

  • 160 g or ml of Lavender Floral Water
  • 70 g of Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide)

PHASE B (Oily)

  • 220 g of Shea Butter
  • 220 g of Castor Oil Beauty Oil

PHASE C (Actives)

  • 45 ml of Lavender - Hybrid Super Organic essential oil

    Preparation

    1. Measure out all the ingredients.
    2. Add the floral water to the bowl, then carefully add the sodium hydroxide*, stirring with the spoon until the crystals are completely dissolved.
    3. Mix the shea butter and castor oil. Melt them in a double boiler (oily phase) and stir well until homogeneous.
    4. Slowly add the caustic soda solution and stir with the spoon for two minutes. Blend with a mixer until a creamy texture is achieved, then add the lavandin essential oil. Blend well before final cooling. Pour into the mold and let it rest in a cool place for 24 hours.
    5. Unmold the soaps and place them in a dry area; the quality of the soap improves with age (saponification), with the best results after 1 month of curing.
    6. Work soap into hands or directly into hair, lathering lightly. Massage the scalp and hair. Rinse thoroughly with clear water, avoiding contact with the eyes.
    7. Apply conditioner and use a lice comb to detangle hair.

Tip: Finish rinsing hair by pouring in a glass of organic apple cider vinegar.

*Sodium hydroxide is a caustic salt usually found in crystalline form. If mishandled, it can cause severe skin and eye burns. For safety, always wear gloves, protective goggles, and long sleeves, and work in a well-ventilated area. Keep your face away during mixing and ensure that pets and children are kept away while the product cools.

      Precautions & recommendations

      • The formula cannot be used on skin that is too sensitive or allergic.
      • Store in a cool, dark place.
      • Be sure to refer to the warnings and instructions on the labels of any products you use in your recipes.
